Things I have made, for both personal and professional intentions.
AMD Athlon XP machine made portable for audio recording applications. An Abit KV-7 motherboard with a Barton-core processor sits in a hacksawed ATX case. Outer chassis is a particleboard flight case, finished to imitate aluminum briefcases... a cheap find on Ebay. Open the lid and find the ports for all its peripherals right up front. The lid also provides enough clearance to stuff most necessary cables into the case.
Next I'd like to put a couple of 15" LCD monitors into a matching briefcase, for a portable dual-monitor display.
The goal of this project was to make a Tivo that looked like a nice piece of furniture. The guts include a Via M10000 Mini-ITX form factor motherboard, an AverMedia TVFM98 tuner card, an 80GB hard drive, slot load DVD burner, and a homemade IR reciever plugged into the serial port.
The chassis is red oak top/bottom with poplar sides. I decided to try a 2-tone look with different stains and woods. The dovetail joinery was done by Doug's son, who has a dovetail jig.
