You may have noticed that Quicktime places a new icon in your System Tray, in the bottom-right corner of your Windows taskbar. It looks like a small blue 'Q'. If you wish to remove it, please use the following steps.
Right-click the 'Q' icon in the System Tray. In the menu that displays, select "Quicktime Preferences".
This is the Quicktime Preferences window. Use the drop-down menu to navigate to the "Browser Plug-in" page, as shown to the left.
On that page there are several check-boxes. The last option, highlighted to the left in green, allows you to disable the Quicktime icon. Make sure this box is unchecked, and simply close the window using the 'X' in the top-right corner of the window. Disabling this icon will not hinder Quicktime's functionality.
If you are ever instructed to change your Quicktime settings, you can navigate to the Windows Control Panel, and double-click the Quicktime icon. The Control Panel is located in the Start menu under 'Settings'.
