This scuba rescue plan was created by Jeff Bevis (PADI 93597), I can be reached at Jeff.Bevis@vt.edu. The Page was originally set up to fulfill the rescue plan requirement for a PADI Divemaster course. Since then it has gone through some updating. This plan is not all inclusive, nor does it detail all steps required in a rescue. It is assumed that the user understands the terms used and how to perform the required tasks.
Although this plan gives procedures in rescue and first aid, training in properly applying the skills is necessary. The information presented is in no way to be considered instruction or expert advice. Training and instruction can only come from a certified instructor of a reputable training agency.

Credit is given to the PADI Rescue Diver Manual, Revised Edition, for much of the information found in this plan. I also thank and acknowledge the help of my instructors. I have recieve much of my instruction from David Sun and he is my primary instructor for Divemaster. I have also received instruction from Renee Lambrigger, Linton Leary, Greg Lewis, and John Kiser. Although their styles varied, each provided excellent instruction. I also acknowledge the skill and help of the many assistants each of these instructors have had during my instruction -- too numerous to mention, but no less appreciated.
I would also like to thank the members of the SCUBA Club at Virginia Tech for being a great group of people with which to dive and for providing a safe and low cost diving operation. And of course the main dive buddy, Laura.
Remember to support your local dive shop. Blacksburg is fortunate the have three excellent dive stores in its area (in order of distance from my house): New River Valley SCUBA Center in Christiansburg (540/382-9258), Diane and Mike have helped out whenever they could and provide a great local source of equipment and instruction; Diver's Corner in Radford (540/639-6478) with Linton providing a great historic view of diving and sources to help save money when things are needed -- he has been associated with the club longer than anybody; and Diving Enterprises in Roanoke (540/345-8555) where Ken and Mary have the best and most complete in stock inventory in the area. Ken and Mary now own the store, but I also need to mention the previous owners Cindy and Kyle, who, with their staff, were very helpful as I worked towards instructor. Each of these stores has also been an asset to the Club as we train our own divers and in maintaining our equipment. I'm a little bit happier, but poorer, because each is around.
